HOLDING ON

What is it about letting go of something or someone that is not right for you? Or you for them?

Especially when you realize It’s really not too much of nothing?

I am not experienced in faking it until you make it,

or until something bigger and better comes along.

I think that’s wrong…

The reality of our awkwardness and attempts to force a connection was

simply more like no hits and misses.

When it comes to matters of the heart, no one deserves to assume

you are sharing your “whole heart”….

Especially when you know in your heart, you are not giving part of the half.

Truth is, from his perspective, he was also holding on to nothing, in hopes of something more.

Me? I also knew what holding on felt like until I courageously walked out the “escape now or die” door.

Why does having a “Man Friend” have such a short shelf life?

Especially given the fact that few men these days are looking for or need “ a wife”.

My man-friend is retired now and done with life’s “hurried” things. His best idea of spending time together was food and an electronic screen. Yet, during that season of my journey, he was a trustworthy neighbor to have next door.

After 20 years of friendship, and a post-pandemic lifestyle, we have missed one another. Things will change again since one of us has recently gotten engaged to be married.
