FC Hickombottom– Lifelong Educator, Writer, Storyteller.

FC Hickombottom wears many creative hats—and truthfully, she’s been doing it for years before she ever thought about calling herself an “author.” From children’s theater and teaching drama at Los Angeles Sickle Cell Camp, to developing content for marketing videos, writing short stories, poetry, screenplays, and think pieces, storytelling has always been part of who she is.

Her writing journey has opened doors she never imagined. Her work was recognized as a finalist in the TECO Play Festival in Dallas, Texas, and later as a finalist in the Women of Color Unite Screenwriting Contest in Los Angeles, California (2022). Those moments mattered—not simply because of recognition, but because they affirmed what she already knew deep down: stories connect people.

FC is a graduate of the University of Nebraska with a degree in Communications, and continued graduate studies through California State University, San Bernardino, University of Southern California Continuing Education, and Capella University in Instructional Design. But honestly, some of her greatest lessons came outside the classroom—in camp cabins, community spaces, open mic nights, rehearsals, and everyday life.

And yes…FC is no stranger to the stage.

She once sang in a funk/pop girl group, performed as an ensemble member in a very “way off-Broadway” production of Cats, and even managed a brief, show-stopping appearance aboard a cruise ship. Every now and then, she still grabs a microphone at an open mic venue to share poetry that makes people laugh, think, reflect—or sometimes all three at once.

Today, FC Hickombottom continues writing stories, posting blogs, and sharing think pieces rooted in family, legacy, humor, heartbreak, resilience, and the complicated beauty of everyday life.

In July 2025, under her professional name, Brynndah H. Cummings, she released her debut children’s book, The Principal’s Daughter. Her second children’s book is scheduled for release in Fall 2026.

She currently resides in Mesquite with her husband, Dex, where the writing, dreaming, revising, and storytelling continue.
