A Song Bird Symphony

I was awakened today by 3 birds singing out my window. One of them chirped, chirped, CHIRPED! The other two screeched in a rapid whistle-like tone as if to shout we can feel it too! They are clearly excited about the pre-arrival of spring.

The trees have begun to spout new life, as witnessed by the change in their sidewalk shadows. The weather is warmer, and the grass is turning green again. The sound of lawnmowers will follow with the smell of agitated dirt and cut grass. I love to feel the wind brush against my cheeks while driving with the windows rolled down.

Music playing from my CD player is loud enough for only me. Yes, you read that right, CD player. I have one in my car, and I love knowing Half-Price books still have a variety to choose from. (smile)

I enjoy watching the people who are walking on sidewalks in a relaxed unhurried state of mind. It is a sure sign they get it. You know what I am talking about, the live-life-now commands that have more to do with smelling the flowers, developing patience, helping someone, sharing kind words, and living in the moment to fully experience where we are.

Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “The days come and go like muffled and veiled figures sent from a distant party, but they say nothing, and if we do not use the gifts they bring, they carry them as silently away.”

I believe we have the opportunity to learn from what each day brings, today, it was a few birds singing.
